A Norfolk MP has said Brexit appears to be “driven by UKIP” in his constituency.

George Freeman, MP for Mid Norfolk, shared the view with the BBC after writing in the Telegraph newspaper that he feared Brexit was distracting parliament from other issues.

He told the BBC: “In my constituency Brexit appears to be something driven by UKIP and I want it to be a one nation Brexit.

“I want to give all our mayors a million pound infrastructure bond. I want a new model of planning and housing to give the young a chance to own a home.

“I want dramatic domestic reforms.”

The clip was played on BBC Radio Norfolk on Thursday morning.

Earlier this week, the MP indicated he was unsure how he would vote on the question of whether parliament should get a final say on the Brexit deal.

But in the minutes before the vote, he met with prime minister Theresa May and said he had decided to vote to give her the “authority and freedom to negotiate the best deal she can”.
