The inquest into the death of a man murdered in East Harling opened in Norwich this morning.

Peter Gerald Wrighton, 83, was found dead in woodland near East Harling on August 5.

Senior coroner Jacqueline Lake told the court that Mr Wrighton had left his home, in The Moor, Banham in the morning to walk his dogs.

But a member of the public found the retired BT engineer unresponsive in the woods.

Paramedics were called, but Mr Wrighton - who was born in Tottenham - was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital three days later, by his wife Ann.
