The village’s efforts to support sport, fitness, wellbeing and the environment have been praised in a letter from the Cabinet Office after villagers’ organised events throughout the year and for being named Norfolk Sports Village and Norfolk Champion of Champions in 2011 from the EDP and Active Norfolk. “I am pleased that residents have taken on the ideas behind the Big Society and are really making a difference to the community,” said Sarah Baker of the Cabinet Office’s social action team, who was contacted directly by David Cameron.

  • Good ol' boy that Dave. Before him there weren't none of this volunteering, community spirit business it seems. Maybe he could go on to invent family values, some charity beginning at home and a few victories for common sense?

  • Hethersett is a strong community and has been for years with sports clubs, toddler groups and an annual pantomime. David Cameron can't take the credit for this one - it's down to the people of the village.
