A popular entertainment venue has won a £1,000 grant for its outreach programme in the community.

The Corn Hall in Diss was successful in its application to Persimmon’s Community Champions programme for funding.

Andrew Fuller, managing director of Persimmon Homes Anglia, presented a cheque for £1,000 to Ray Bryant, trustee of the Corn Hall.

The money will be used as part of the funding for The Corn Hall’s outreach programme which provides activities for young families, young people and the elderly and disabled.

As far as possible, these will be provided free or at a low price.

The Corn Hall has employed two outreach staff to work with various groups in the town to create these events.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has given £20,000 and the Corn Hall, which is a registered charity, is hoping local businesses and individuals will help them reach their £40,000 target for this community benefit programme.
