Car rolls after hitting a deer in Barford - but woman in her 50s escapes unhurt

A woman in her 50s has escaped unhurt after her car rolled when it hit a deer in Barford this morning.

Emergency services attended the incident on the B1108 Watton Road between Barford and Marlingford at around 7.25am.

The road was blocked between Bow Hill and Hall Road due to the crash, but has since reopened.

Fire crews from Earlham and Hethersett made the car and scene safe.

The East of England Ambulance Service also sent an ambulance crew and officer to assess a female patients in her 50s.

She was not injured and was not taken to hospital.

  • I know what you're thinking Rebecca but it's not recommended to eat road killed venison as the guts are likely to have contaminated the venison! Sorry to disappoint.

  • There seems to be an unprecedented carnage of deer on the roads I have been driving on across the region these last few weeks. The time of year and the harvesting of the last of the beet is a contributory factor of course .It is recognised that deer numbers are at an all time high, so would it be too much to expect NCC to install more deer posts beside roads? Hitting a muntjac is one thing, but a roe or red deer is quite another and we are facing the risk everywhere in the county now, not just the Thetford Chase area as was the case twenty or so years ago. Of course we should all be driving at a speed where we can brake if something is in the road, but when that something jumps down into the road from a bank top or dashes across very fast-not easy.
