Sections of the A11 will be closed overnight so that technological equipment, such as roadside phones and electronic warning signs, can be maintained.

Highways England, which looks after Britain’s motorways and A-roads, is starting the routine maintenance work today (Monday, June 11) on the A11 Thetford southbound bypass.

The work will last two nights, with the soundbound carriageway between the Mundford Road and Brandon Road roundabouts fully closed between 9pm and 6am tonight.

Single lane closures along the same stretch of road will take place tomorrow night.

Engineers will then move to carry out similar work on the A11 northbound between Hargham and Attleborough.

Those works, starting on Wednesday (June 13), will only last one night but will mean a full closure of the northbound carriageway.

A spokesman for Highways England said diversion routes would be fully signposted.
