A music shop will disappear from a market town high street next month when it closes its doors for the final time.

The owner of DCR Music has announced "with great sadness" that the shop in Queens Road in Attleborough is closing.

The shop has been a fixture of the town for many years and was originally opened by Steve Whetton, offering a wide range of musical instruments, equipment and accessories, as well as guitar lessons.

He then went on to work there giving guitar lessons before taking over ownership in 2011.

"It’s with great sadness that I’ve decided to close DCR Music after 17 years," he said.

"It’s been an honour to be a part of this town and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the unwavering support from each and every person that has come through the door, either as customers or simply through sharing a mutual passion for music.

"Closing down is something that I never imagined doing even through the toughest times, however, I ultimately feel that it’s time for a change.

"It’s been an incredible journey and experience and a lot of fun along the way.

"Thank you to everyone that I’ve met or had the pleasure of teaching over the 17 years and I hope that DCR Music’s legacy lives on in every musician it had played a small part of making along the way.

"Of course, if anyone has a passion for music and a desire to run their own business, please come and have a chat with me."

The shop will remain open as usual until May 11 with reduced stock available.
