A man has admitted possessing a stockpile of offensive weapons including a Taser stun device in his home.

Barney Moore, 39, was found to have a number of illegal items when police searched his property in Hethersett after being called to a domestic incident.

Josephine Jones, prosecuting, told Norwich Magistrates’ Court the weapons found included an extendable baton, three knuckle dusters, a flick knife and a stun Taser device.

The court was told it followed a change in the law last year that extended the banning of all weapons in public to now include private settings, which means people can no longer keep them at home.

This included items such as throwing stars, zombie knives, knuckle dusters, and decorative swords.

Moore, of South Croft, Hethersett, pleaded guilty to having offensive weapons, criminal damage to a police vehicle after he spat blood, and possession of cannabis.

Gina Mattioli, mitigating, said he had not brandished the weapons which had mainly either been forgotten about or were stored at the back of drawers.

Magistrates fined him £120 and ordered he pay £95 compensation towards the costs of cleaning the police vehicle.
