A town of thousands will be left with only one post office from next week after a bid to save one of its two branches fell through.
The Wymondham Jarrold service will cease operations on Monday, leaving just one post office remaining in the town of around 16,000 people.
According to a Post Office spokeswoman, the temporary postmaster has resigned and efforts to find a "more permanent solution" have failed.
She said: "Post Offices are facing a particularly challenging period, as are many retailers, including restrictions on our funding from the government.

"While the Jarrold Post Office has been temporarily operated for some time, the postmaster has resigned and it will be closing on February 26."
Jarrold has declined to comment.

The closest branch is 900 metres away, in the East of England Co-op supermarket in Limetree Avenue. The next closest is in Hethersett, more than four miles away.
A recent ITV dramatisation of the Post Office Horizon scandal has renewed interest among the public after thousands of sub-postmasters across the country were wrongly accused of stealing money between 1999 and 2015.
Thirty-three postmasters in Norfolk were stung by the injustice, with one still yet to receive any compensation for the technological shortcoming.
