A major supermarket chain has revealed the opening date for its newest shop in the Norwich area.

A Central Co-op will be coming to the Hethersett Local Centre in Coachmaker Way on February 16.

It will be the first business to move into the retail space - which is near the new school and includes a 4,320sqft shop and three 1,000sqft units. 

The Local Centre is one of a number of community facilities being delivered as part of the Heather Gardens project off Little Melton Road.

The scheme will see 1,196 homes constructed by both Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes. 

A doctor's surgery, sports pitches, a recreational space and play areas are all included in what is set to be provided.

A spokesman for Central Co-op said: “We’re pleased to be opening our new store at the Hethersett Local Centre on Coachmaker Way soon and are looking forward to serving the local community from February 16.

"As well as everyday essentials the store will feature a range of food-to-go options including hot food, and an Insomnia coffee machine, serving Fairtrade coffee."
